To Live Again

Words cannot touch
The horror seen,
Nor reach the grief
That’s still a dream.

The gift of time
Will but unfold
The broken hearts,
The stories told.

Our Father sees
The deepest need
Within each soul
Touched by such deed.

Within His arms
He’ll gently deal
With wounds so deep
That man can’t heal.

Only God’s hand
Can bring new life
From ashes deep
In evil’s strife.

It is in Christ
True freedom lies
From evil’s trap
And hidden ties.

For He alone
Can heal the pain
Restore a soul
To live again.

(Written following the tragic events of September 11, 2001)

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

– Psalm 91:3-4
